So, I dropped my Management Science class today….kind of a spur of the moment thing really….figured I’d rather take the class when I know I can get an A in the class….after sitting through an hour long presentation-of which I get to do two later in the year….I realized I had no desire to deal with any more responsibility, and that something would suffer….and I’ll be damned if it’ll be that class again….so I dropped it

Freakin’ Subway commercial….the one about Canadians lovin’ the hockey and the texting on cell phones…..listen to this….”FUCK CELLPHONES” there…I had to say it. They are convenient at times I admit, but I have no long list of people who wish to talk to me that much…really, no one calls here to talk, so why do I need a phone on my person? I don’t. Plus, I have this thing about being “unreachable” that I love…..probably why I like the journey, not the destination…ahh…metaphors for life….et merci beaucoup Subway………gave me a rant topic.

Also, for all those who read and care, I still don’t know what the deal is with work…haven’t heard anything yet, but it has only been a month since the process started, so I’ll still be patient….I am going to start looking for work though soon, just to hedge my bets. In the meantime….three classes I’m still attending, the KNA’s slow break-up process, and whatever it is that my horoscope promised me numerous-the change that will begin on or around February 4….the repeated specificity of that really got into my head…and as chance would have it, I do have some things planned for around that date….

Anyway, enough of me being coy. Gotta go to bed soon, have a morning class…..followed by a late afternoon/early evening class….Tuesdays are long for me….if I make it out of this week unscathed….well, then I’ll have made it to Feb 4…

Still alive, despite all the alcohol everyone bought for last night. The sheer volume of Guinness I had bought for myself and had bought for me for my birthday left me with plenty to go around. I’ll be drinking it all week I imagine. Never even touched the JD in the freezer, as Ian had bought some too. Yikes….all that, plus the huge amount the girls brought for daiquiris meant that no one was without a drink in their hand if they wanted one. There is still a lot of booze left in the kitchen too. Craziness.

It was a slow night too at first….see, I got-for some reason, trapped in the Valley way of things, which often involves drinking pretty early on and being tanked before midnight….not like the Halifax way of things, which often involves showing up late and staying up until dawn. I managed to skirt the two, although I did need to kick everyone out of my room at 5AM because I was going down, like it or not.

So, back to worrying about school for another week. I did a discussion/opinion piece tonight, so I’m back on track for the week hopefully. Gonna get up and do the workout until my arms hurt….so everything will be cool until….

….Thursday night at the Attic. The mystery show with the Alewives that materialized out of thin air seemingly…with Dan and I discovering it’s existence after it was posted on locals late last week. We’re doing it though. The only thing that worries me is that my birthday hits before we’re even scheduled to go on stage. Yikes, I hope no one tries to/lets me get drunk….I really don’t like “working” with a buzz on, does me no good at all really. Then after that, I get up, get my ass to Moncton, and do Lee’s birthday celebration part 2. I guess it involves a trip downtown with some people….I’m sure drinking is on the agenda.

Funny, this is slightly out of character for me….the whole, loud, drunk, not-as-shy Lee, don’t really recognize the guy too much. Wondering if it’s a phase, or am I “coming out of my shell”. Time will tell on that one I suppose. I’m sure it’s a phase, and I’ll be back to boring Lee soon, but I can see how some aspects of this new guy may stick around after the dust has settled…….(Although even with the new attitude, Mindy still says I need to get out more….who knows, maybe I do, but that has more to do with me “finding someone” I think…)

Anyway, that’s the scoop….busy as hell all week, then the show, then “so long” until Sunday night I guess. Hey,. isn’t Valentine’s Day coming soon? Need to watch out for that so I can avoid it….just thought of it as I sat here imaging my schedule for February. Not that I hate it, but it’s been nothing in my life really….I was attached for one VD of my life, and that night she had to work anyway…it’s never really factored….why am I typing about this now? VD rants are better closer to the day…..and now I’ll make a joke because it says “VD” haha….Lee you are so juvenile…

I put in a link to the story regarding one of my earlier rants, the woman who plead guilty to the assisted suicide of her ailing son. I guess she got out of a jail term-all probation. Read about it yourself, don’t know why I feel so strongly about this as opposed to other controversies, guess I’m hoping that I can use it if I want to to someday.

I have no real desire to post, but since I’m trapped in the habit, here goes nothing.

I am so tired of school….really, just freakin’ tired. Today I met with my group for one class….there are to be 5 of us, but only three made it….pretty sure we’ll only be 4 come presentation time….yup, two presentations, both an hour long apparently….this is in addition to weekly group discussions, two 5 page papers, a midterm and a final. For one class? Fuck.

I’m beat….and the semester has only started! I also get the impression that when our group was assembled, it was with me in mind to act as the “leader”….the prof said she’d go over everyone’s files to see how she would put the groups together…and lets just say, I have no desire to lead a group with all this work. If this works, I am so putting it on my resume.

So that’s that, I still got the crap-ass Management Science course, which I will admit I haven’t been to yet, since I’m having a hard time reasoning to myself that I really need to sit there for 75 minutes to hear a lecture I heard three months ago. I have to go next time though, well obviously I should show up at sometime, but apparently there has been a break down with the online drive at school that had all the info I needed to keep up with assignments and general class speed. Christ, not what I needed either.

Funny that I say I’m tired though, think it might be from all the work-out time I’ve put in lately. Can’t seem to stop…got five minutes? Hit the bar….wake up and have an hour to kill? use the weights. It’s gonna be funny when I see people in the Valley at spring break and get accused of doing ‘roids haha. Actually it’s not that noticeable unless my shirt’s off or something.

OK, there’s my post-makes me sound like a whiny, cranky, show-off. Beautiful, just what I wanted to sound like. Trust me, I’m not really this easily annoyed, or this into myself.

I always said that if Stephen Harper became the Prime Minister I’d move. Well, a minority government, of which I was totally prepared for isn’t enough to get me out. It does however raise a question of whether or not I get any good job offers….change in gov’t, might affect hiring practices, but who knows. I do know however that Harper has his eye on the public service and how “Liberal” he felt it is. This is from an actual news article which quoted him…not pulling it out of my ass.

Interestingly enough, what I feel more politicized about is two other stories from today, one, in which G.W.B actually addressed a pro-life rally in the U.S. and hailed them as heroes in the fight against murder. I couldn’t imagine living there…at least with a minority, if Harper ever said that here, he’d be in an election P.D.Q.

The other story was in this country though, I couldn’t access it because the CBC website was understandably busy, but the headline, and the accompanying byline, was about how a woman from Montreal I believe was charged with assisting the suicide of her son who had suffered from MS. I wish this wasn’t so….I know that if I was ever too sick to die with dignity on my own terms (i.e.-my own hands basically), then I’d want some help…..who knows, maybe she was charged for counselling him? I guess I need to read the story in depth obviously. The point though, is that after watching my grandfather suffer through cancer, and he wasn’t in a position to actually communicate himself so who knows what his wishes were, but I know from watching that whole ordeal that I could never do it-not any cowardice or lack of bravery, but I’d rather go on my own terms. I also would never want to burden anyone else with caring for me if things got a point where I could no longer look after myself in my illness.

That’s just me though….I obviously don’t think that’s the right course of action for everyone-it’s a personal choice. Like organ donation or cremation…..both of which I have opted for haha…….I don’t need them anymore…..just spread my ashes under a solitary tree in a field in the middle of nowhere….that’ll be my tombstone. What I do now and it’s ripple effects will be my legacy, whether anyone remembers my name or not.

What a weird post huh? Guess I snapped out of my usual self-absorbed mode of thinking…..this is actually more in line with me a few years ago…before I started being more….well, greedy, but that’s not the word I want….I’m looking out for number one a little more, but not too much. Now I’m just rambling….jeez man…go to bed.

….seems very true, especially the part about how I look at the larger social construct behind every thing I do. Either that’s a hell of a good guess, or there might be something to this….funny, I was just doing that this morning, explaining how what I thought was not only an inane story to begin with about ghosts/mediums.Native Americans that someone was in love with was actually quite racist….I bet they still think I’m full of it. Basically I felt that they needed to look at the bigger picture-how in the 19th century mediums were all the rage, and so was racism….I won’t go into details, but trust me….the “Indians” weren’t painted in a flattering light in this story….I was more disappointed the the person in question couldn’t see the connection though….:(
