Waiting For Something To Happen
Interesting if you enjoy seeing someone’s brains splattered across the screen-not literally you sicko…Basically this bad-boy has become a source of cheap therapy.Archive for Youtube
Tumble
So Tumblr has a new metric called “tumblarity” – presumably to show you how popular you are in numerical format.
No one operating a Tumblr site seems to know what the hell it means, but that the higher the number the better off you are.
I really hope fucking with this number doesn’t detract too much from my duties here.
In any event, you know where I am if I’m not around, desperately trying to win the popularity contest.
Also this song has been stuck in my head since getting an electronica classics 3 disc set because I was interested to see what it sounded like. Some of you may remember it from Shaun of the Dead – where I first remember hearing it, although it’s a popular sports anthem as well apparently.
The video is weird I’m watching it now as I type for the first time.
Youtube Party Tonight
Now, I don’t profess to be on the cutting edge musically, but I do keep up. This little gem has been making the rounds and seems to a complete success, which is great because it’s fantastic really. I figured I’d share tonight after seeing the song and/or video in my blog reader for about the 45th time tonight….
Daniel – Bat for Lashes
…and in case anyone is interested, here’s the track from the previous album that got me hooked and basically made Natasha Khan my new indie girl crush. (I will admit there are a few at the moment)
Horse & I – Bat for Lashes
Now this one is admittedly a bit older, so no scene points for me, but I just discovered RJD2 so I’m playing catch up.
1976 – RJD2
Now the embedding is off on this particular video, party I suspect because on their own Youtube channel, they have the top four songs off the new album put together in a certain play order – in fact the song I want to show is Act III – so follow the link to I’ve Got Friends – Manchester Orchestra.
I’ll finish off with an indie crush haha…there’s a more popular song with a video from her but I chose to opt for the lesser known off the same album. This woman rocks harder then I ever did and I grew up playing in punk/rock bands for 10+ years.
Oh My God – Ida Maria
…happy accident.
No word yet on the new job front, but we’re patiently holding our breath (fuck I just lost consciousness for a second and caught the edge of the table with my temple)….and my new idea of perhaps going to say NBCC or NSCC (both community colleges for those of you not from New Brunswick or Nova Scotia) and taking web application design or whatever it was officially called is still with me. I like the idea of doing that more so in that I feel the skills would definitely be in demand from businesses, but that it could allow me to freelance and work from home and do whatever the hell I want to….like say spend part of my time writing and even possibly making some music from time to time as well.
Oh well, need to get there first….in the meantime here’s the new Passion Pit video for The Reeling. Dammit these guys are catchy. The back story is great too – how they band was created based off of an ep of songs the singer had originally recorded and only intended to be for his girlfriend as a gift. Like a happy accident.
Always look for opportunities for happy accidents. Large portions of my life owe everything to those.
Another day spent home from work…
Another day spent home from work, feeling ill, all that good stuff. This helps a bit though.
Passion Pit – Sleepy Head
I Wouldn’t Want To Be A Baby Right Now
*Edit* Apparently embedding has been turned off for this one, so click here to link up to the youtube page. Also as a side note, I had a dream last night I had a baby – weird….I was awesome at it though, for some reason the kid never cried and and I never tired of carrying him around. That’s how you knew it wasn’t real…
So I’ve been watching series 5 of Peep Show on youtube, and episode 4 has the best line. I recommend watching it all from the beginning so the “fuck you” comment Mark says in his head has context, but if you start at 8:50, what he thinks next is the best thing I have heard all day. In fact, I’ve watched that bit about 4 times now.
…busting moves…
I got my wish, I thought of a video to post. The song rules, and the video is a touch clever. I first saw this video – and consequently got my first taste of Joseph Arthur – back a few years ago before I left Halifax. The video was on a “best of ‘05″ compilation on this blog here.
And while on the subject, this next video was also featured on that same list. This was really the start of my “indie” phase – not that these started it, but when I think back to my last last musical re awaking, this was right around the time it started. The time where I got bored to death listening to punk rock, garage rock had lost it’s appeal, and I would soon be busting moves to Junior Senior. Fun times.
